Concise description of ongoing new projects in the Forest and Wildlife Department
1. Afforestation Projects
  • Total Forest Cover Scheme Total forest Cover Scheme 2014-15 is being launched to ensure complete greenery in Districts Mainpuri, Etawah, Lucknow, Unnao, kannauj and Badaun. In the proposed project, advanced soil treatment will be done in the wastelands, construction of brick guards and plantation of trees, plantation in tree guards and fencing of rail tracks/canals/roads through plantation of trees is aimed to be done.
  • Forest Cover Enrichment Scheme With the objective of Enrichment of forest cover in the open forest areas and degenerating forest regions, a four year scheme with collaboration of NABARD is proposed for 18 districts (Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Meerut, Saharanpur, Muradabad, Jhansi, Banda, Kanpur Nagar, Lucknow, Faizabad, Gonda, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Basti and Azamgarh).

2. Wildlife protection and Eco Tourism related Projects:
  • Wildlife Protection in Amritpur Raghupur Village of District Etah: This project has been launched for Wildlife Protection in Amritpur Raghupur Village of District Etah. under Wildlife Protection Scheme in Amritpur Raghupur Village of District Etah, plantation work is being done in the current monsoon.

  • Transfer of land from Irrigation Department to Forest and Wildlife Department in Sarnath Varanasi Scheme: Under the Transfer of land from Irrigation Department to Forest and Wildlife Department in Sarnath Varanasi Scheme, the land of State Tube well no. 14 N.B.G. Baraipur along with all the structure and trees, is projected to be transferred to Forest and Wildlife Department after payment of due compensation.
  • Compensation for land of Similar Bird Sanctuary: A new scheme has been launched for compensating the farmers adequately after acquiring land for similar bird sanctuary. There is a natural lake in Mainpuri. Water from nearby villages flows here and is collected in the lake. Department works for natural habitat reforms, cleanliness of the lake and deepening of the lake. This place is world famous for cranes. Development of bird habitat, providing security to birds, development of tourist centers, insurance against unforeseen accidents and encouragement to research work are some of the main objectives of this scheme.
  • Construction of C.R.C Drains to address the overflow problem of sewage drain in Kanpur Wildlife Park.
    This scheme has been launched to address the problem of overflow of sewage drain in Kanpur Wildlife Park. Deposition of sewage water in the lake of the park is hazardous for the ecological balance and health of people living in the adjoining areas. Impure water contains bacteria's, virus, fungus, etc which incur overt or covert loss to the health of wildlife. To ensure good health for the wildlife and the spectators and tourists, the project aims at draining all the polluted water out and to make the entire area bacteria free.
